How to Install the MetaMask Extension
Installing MetaMask takes a few minutes. The most important step is getting the real extension from your browser's official store, because fake copies are a common way people lose funds.
Get it from the official store
Open your browser's extension store and search for MetaMask. Confirm the publisher is MetaMask and that the listing links back to the official MetaMask website. Skip ads and search results that send you to unfamiliar domains.
Create or import a wallet
On first launch, choose to create a new wallet or import an existing one with your Secret Recovery Phrase. Write the phrase on paper and keep it offline. Never type it into a website or share it with anyone, including people claiming to be support.
Pin it and check your network
Pin the fox icon to your toolbar so the wallet is one click away. MetaMask starts on Ethereum Mainnet; use the network menu at the top when you need a test network or a Layer 2 chain.
